Cheng-Yung Kuo

郭正雍 Cheng-Yung Kuo was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. He moved to the United States to study art in 2001. He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 2007 and his MFA from SAIC in 2009. His first solo show was at the Photo-Four Gallery in 2007. He recently had two solo exhibitions at National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall-Tswei-heng Gallery and Pacific Cultural Foundation Art Center in Taipei, Taiwan. His works have been exhibited nationally and internationally, including: Bridge Art Fair 2009, New York, Chicago Asian American Showcase, The office of U.S. Senator, Barack Obama at Capitol Hill for Illinois, Lollapalooza’s Outdoor Art Gallery, Who Art Thou?, Chicago, The 10th Annual Chicago Art Open, Around the Coyote 2007 Winter Arts Festival, Chicago, 2006 China Pingyao International Photography Fest, Panopticon Gallery Boston, Regional Juried Exhibition 2005, Lubeznik Center for the Arts, Michigan City. His work was also shown in the 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 Illinois Board of Higher Education Annual Collegiate Artists’ Competition. Cheng-Yung Kuo's works often deal with the experience of immigration and issues of culture and identity. He now lives and works in Chicago.

郭正雍出生於台灣高雄，高中就讀復興商工，於畢業展時獲得攝影類組第一名，自此他就將攝影當作他捕捉周遭意象及創作的主要工具。

為了要得到更好更專業的藝術教育，軍中退伍後，他遠赴芝加哥。初期先於伊利諾州的南郊大學進行基本大學課程。在校期間他表現優異，郭正雍不僅是學校的資優生之一，還獲該學的獎學金前往香港大學及中國大陸研修。更在2006年榮獲學校提名，成為該年全美全國榮譽學會會員（2006 Phi Theta Kappa All-USA Academic Team)及伊利諾州的資優生協會成員之一。

在南郊大學求學期間，郭正雍積極參加藝術比賽及展覽，分別在伊利諾州大學藝術競賽中連續四年得獎並獲得展出機會。 他的攝影作品也因此逐漸嶄露頭角，並於2006年他申請進入芝加哥藝術學院(The School of the Art Institute of Chicago)，繼續深造。

在芝加哥藝術學院時，他不斷積極地進行創作，產出不少深獲芝加哥文藝圈好評的作品。於藝術學院擔任學校台灣學生會會長時，他更大力推動每年台灣學生的藝術聯展，引荐更多年輕有潛力的旅美台灣藝術家至芝加哥藝文界。

2007年時，郭正雍獲得芝加哥藝術學院藝術創作碩士的入學許可，專攻攝影及陶藝創作。2008年，他的攝影作品之一( Reflections on Reality #23 )，獲得當時伊利諾州參議員、現任美國總統「歐巴馬」的青睞，將該作品公開展示於其華府參議員辦公室。郭正雍於2009年取得芝加哥藝術學院藝術創作碩士學位。 他目前居住和工作於芝加哥。
